Social Media
Due to state-level legislation restricting crypto staking, Maryland residents are unable to participate in staking on Coinbase. As a result, Baltimore users are missing out on an estimated $8 million in potential staking rewards.

Coinbase needed a way to raise awareness of the issue, educate the local community, and spark conversation around the real financial impact of these restrictions.
Ice Wall Activation
We created a literal ice wall that symbolized how legislation had “frozen” access to staking rewards. Embedded inside the wall were hundreds of $100 bills, visually representing the real money Baltimore residents are unable to earn due to staking restrictions.

The activation made a complex regulatory issue immediately understandable and impossible to ignore.
Ice Wall Activation
Installed outside M&T Bank Stadium before a Raven's game, the ice wall became a live, participatory experience. Attendees were invited to engage with the installation, capture photos, learn how crypto works, and why staking is currently unavailable in Baltimore.
Earned Media
The visual spectacle also drove earned media coverage and organic sharing across the community.
Engagement and capture
Branded locker room photo moment, Coinbase jerseys, winter merch, and scratch cards offering Bitcoin incentives created multiple entry points for engagement while reinforcing the campaign message.
Digital Ads and OOH
Content captured during the activation was repurposed across paid and organic social, we also created digital OOH placements throughout Baltimore, extending the campaign well beyond the physical footprint.
Landing Page
The activation drove to a landing page that explained the staking ban, highlighted the financial impact on Marylanders, and enabled direct outreach to legislators, turning awareness into action.
